NEW READ YELLOW ALBUM!
We know you have all been waiting very patiently, but now (drum roll please) our new album is DONE! The new album that has yet to be named was recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL and was produced by Greg Norman & Read Yellow. The "Ride The Snake" sessions took place from July 9th-16th of 2006... that's right, recorded and mixed in that short time... take that Coldplay! We have been playing most of the new songs live and we will keep you updated on the release date for the album.

17.Jun.2006
Last month, we took a vacation in Bloomsburg, PA (aka our van breaking down en route to play a show in Chicago at the start of a holiday weekend in a small town in central PA); this month we played a couple shows - that in which we lacked in quantity, we made up for in awesomeness; next month we record the new album at the one and only Electrial Audio! Yes, it will rule. And for the more current news, Evan is still trying to steal lunch money from kids in his neighborhood, Jesse is chillin in tha 'burbs dood, Paul is back in bean town (welcome back!) and i'm sitting in my underwear writing this. Enjoy the rest of your month!

Hello friends! The Read Yellow kids are back home from another amazing US tour! We had a great time playing and partying down with Bullet Train To Vegas and Haram around the left coast of our dear continent. Despite horrible weather, the shows were energy-packed parties with 10% nudity and 100% chaos. We also had a chance to play an amazing show with Ricky Fitts, Mesa Falls, and Spirit of the Stairs in Wichita, KS. Thank you to KS kids and the talented bands who made us feel like Wichita was our hometown. We finished the tour with two incredible shows with Planes Mistaken For Stars, Kingdom of Magic, Rainer Maria, and Scout Niblett. Some tour highlights...Denver Karaoke, The "Lunchbox"(new drink of the stars), driving around in Planes' Bronco listening to Bob Seger, Emily's home cooking, and of course, meeting all new amazing people at all of our shows. Thank you for coming to our shows, you really all make it worthwhile. Our next plan of action is to get into the studio and record our new album for you kids...we will keep you posted. Until then, be good to one another and come party with us when we play your hometown. Read Yellow loves you!

10.Feb.2006
New tour dates! More will be posted as soon as we get them!

10.Dec.2005
Unfortunately we didn't make it to the show we were supposed to play in Worcester last night. Mainly due to that pesky snow storm.. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience! And we hope to reschedule sometime in the near future.

11.Oct.2005
You're not going to see that crappy movie with Cameron Diaz and the old people are you? I thought not. You should go see the comedy, "Waiting" by Lions Gate Films. This movie is not only hilarious thanks to actors like Dane Cook and Ryan Reynolds, but it also features a song by your favorite band... no not Boyz II Men, your other favorite band, Read Yellow. That's right, our song "Fashion Fatale" is played during the dinner rush scene in the movie. So go check out the movie with our song in it, it will be a lot better than that crappy Tom Cruise movie... you know the one.

Those affected by Hurricane Katrina obviously need as much help as they can get. If you feel generous, please attend a benefit show or donate to the American Red Cross or other charity. Thanks.

Hola Amigos!!! I write this news update to all of you during probably the hottest day in Massachusetts history...We hope you are having a summer full of law breakin', thrashin', firework lightin', and other crazy kid stuff! As some of you already know, Read Yellow has taken the summer off to write our new album, which is going to blow your head right off your sexy little bodies, and we only have a couple shows with Planes Mistaken for Stars in August... so everyone who can make it out to Boston and/or Philly should rock the fuck out with us! This new album will have us touring the US and back to Canada, UK, Europe, and other hot spots on the planet, so be on the lookout! Also be on the lookout for the new Bob Dylan Tribute album coming out on Doghouse Records featuring Jim Ward of Sparta, Say Anything, Tegan and Sara, and of course, Read Yellow covering "If Not For You". We love you all and we hope to see you at our upcoming shows and we'll have new music on our site in the very near future...now go listen to Doom Riders. Over and out.

15.Jun.2005
You can’t make this shit up. Our first show of our tour with Daughters and Get Killed was in Augusta, GA. All the kids who were at the show were really great, however everyone who worked at the club were a bunch of miserable fucks. After we and Get Killed played, the sound woman, let’s call her Satan, told us that because both bands were too loud, Daughters were not allowed to play. This new information lead into an argument between the bands and Satan. Eventually, the other sound guy, a big dude who looked like Lemmy from Motorhead if he had elephantitis of the head, started swinging a metal baseball bat at the bands and kept telling us that he was “going to knock the dog shit out of our mouths!” Very nice. During all of this, the owner, a crystal-meth addict, was just yelling “fuck you” amongst all the arguments. The meth addict owner went over to where the bands’ equipment was and pushed Jesse’s (from RY) amp, miniKorg, and pedals over.. sending them smashing to the ground. Jesse quickly reacted by throwing the owner to the ground Ultimate Warrior-style. This is when the shit gets crazy. The meth-addict owner pulls a gun on Jesse. Then he starts pointing it around at everybody, reminding us all that his gun was cocked and loaded. Despite the madness, we all quickly escaped without any bullet wounds. We apologize to all the kids who came out to see Daughters and couldn’t, but the situation was beyond anyone’s control.

The rest of the shows were absolutely amazing. The ferocious Doom Riders joined the tour in Virginia Beach and showed everybody what a “party vibe” was all about. We would like to give a shout out to the kids in Philly who came up onstage and destroyed with us. You guys really know how to party! At our final show in Hoboken, NJ Evan fell and smashed his head open on a cinderblock resulting in a bloody Read Yellow finale. It was overheard at the show that this was a bit “dramatic,” however, the doctor at the ER who stitched Evan’s head up didn’t think so. This tour was full of debauchery, nudity, thrashin’, and tons of shreddin’. The best part of the tour was hanging out with some of the greatest people we have ever met…Thank you Daughters, Doom Riders, Get Killed, The Disease, and all the kids who came out and saw us play, fed us, gave us places to sleep, and skated with us. Read Yellow Loves You.

01.May.2005
We just got back from tour and wanted to thank all the kids who came out to see us, especially those in Cumberland, MD who made the show possible, all the bands we played with, all the venues for existing, and of course Scatter the Ashes for taking us with them!!! In June we'll be doing some dates with Daughters and in August we'll be playing some shows with Planes Mistaken for Stars, so keep your eyes peeled!

22.Mar.2005
Hello friends! We here at Read Yellow have had an amazing past week. We rode our wild beast (our van Bruce) down to Texas to play this year’s SXSW festival. It was a 30+ hour drive, but Paul decided that he would drive the first 20 straight. When his shift was done, his brain exploded. Texas was amazing, we got to see old friends and meet plenty of new ones. All of our friends played really well and we are all so proud of them. Thanks to everybody who came out to our show and tore the stage apart with us. On our way back home, our van ,Bruce, decided that he had enough of the 60 hour roundtrip and basically exploded in rural Pennsylvania. However, we got him fixed and got back home just in time to record our cover of “If Not For You” for the upcoming Bob Dylan Tribute Album out soon on Doghouse Records. This compilation also features Sparta, Say Anything, TV on the Radio, The Honorary Title, Teegan and Sara and many more. We will keep you posted on that. So check our tour dates and see if we are playing in your area and hopefully we will see you all soon! Take care of one another!

Hello friends! We here at Read Yellow have been extremely busy but have been having the time of our lives. We have just returned from our fabulous UK tour that included a session with the great John Peel, an actual Queen of England sighting, and amazing shows with Pretty Girls Make Graves and Seachange. Each show was insanely packed with music lovers and an array of other diamond geezas. We met so many great people that made us feel right at home. Thank you especially to PGMG, Seachange, Your Code Name Is: Milo, and the great Vek, Ed Stringfellow, Mark Kates, and Davy C for being such fantastic people. In other news…The Read Yellow full length LP, “Radios Burn Faster” is officially completed and will be set for release in May with an extensive tour to follow. We are also scheduled to play South By Southwest in Austin Texas in March with a slew of dates to precede it. Stay tuned to the “tour” section for details. We also have some new sexy photos that our friend Bryan Sheffield took that you can now peep on our site. That is all for now…hope to see all of you chaps soon. Kisses.

Did You Miss Us???
I know some of you probably think we fell off the face of the earth because we haven’t updated this section in so long, but we have been extremely busy. We are going to make it very easy for you and list Read Yellow’s recent highlights…here goes:
1) Read Yellow had an absolutely fabulous UK tour in October playing with amazing bands like Funeral For a Friend, The Fiery Furnaces, and The Bumblebeez. We had an amazing time, spending our late nights with great people and dancing to drum and bass music…no lie. Thank you to all who helped out with the tour. We will be heading back to Europe very soon. Peep the new NME and read a review of our Camden Barfly show!
2) We also have played incredible US shows with Radio 4, The Sounds, Detachment Kit, Mission of Burma, Piebald, There Were Wires, and even had the profound opportunity to play at Kaiju Big Battle in NYC. Thanks to all who came and thanks to the bands who we have played with.
3) We are in the finishing stages of recording our LP with the amazing, Paul Kolderie. We also recorded a cover of “Bigmouth Strikes Again” for a Smiths tribute album that also features Cursive, Muse, and Idlewild. The comp will be released on Eat/ Sleep records very soon…
4) We will be hitting the icy roads of the USA and Canada in January for a slew of tour dates with The Detachment Kit and other bands TBA. Be on the lookout for that!
5) Paul has moved out of Brooklyn and will be relocating to Amherst to live and party with the rest of Read Yellow.
6) At one of our last shows, Evan smacked his head and had to go to the hospital for CAT scans due to temporary blindness, deafness, and loss of feeling in the left side of his body. Word up!
7) Read Yellow will be playing the WFNX X-MAS Rave this year with The Ravonettes, Radio 4, Apollo Sunshine, and The Star Spangles. Tune into FNX for details and call and request our song while you are at it.
8) Read Yellow LOVES YOU!

New Video, New Shows, UK
We know, we're sorry, this section sometimes takes longer to get updated than the others. we've been very very busy. we just finshed making a video for the song Read Yellow which will be released in the UK soon. we've been so happy to play with some amazing bands lately and if you want to see more amazing bands such as Mission of Burma and Radio 4, come to our upcoming shows. also dates have been posted for our UK debut, we would really like to thank BBC Radio, NME, and Scuzz TV for the help. hope to see you soon.

7/21: Ah, the joyful exuberance of youth
Hello Friends! Summer is here, which means that Read Yellow has been and will be sweating out Noise Rock from every pore of their bodies in basements and clubs near you! A lot has happened for RY since our last update. We’ve played amazing shows with such bands as Thursday, Lucero, Murder By Death, This Day Forward, The Faux, and Fortunato. Also, we’ve been getting tons of airplay on college radio stations across the U.S. of A., so call up your local station and request our songs! We have been writing all new songs for our upcoming full length release with producer Paul Kolderie (Radiohead, Weezer, Pixies) helping out. Also, we have been nominated in Boston for Best New Rock Band which you can vote for us -click here-, and we will most likely be doing a tour in jolly Old England chap in the fal of 2003 to celebrate the release of our EP in the UK, thanks to Pinnacle Entertainment. You can join us for tea time! But besides all of that, the boys and girl of Read Yellow are still being as loud, sweaty, and obnoxious as ever. So once again, thanks to all the fans that have been supporting us and we’ll see you soon. Muaw!
ps. we have a bunch of new songs and in a within a day or two we will post an MP3 up. please let us know what you think of it. Here are some lyrics to one of them.

(The Easiest Part of Surveillance)
I've been your sickness
Obsessed with a tumor
an obvious reference
of benign humor
and each moment that sinks becomes a hospital bed to me
drowing medicinals
blood foams fast while you dream so slow
(chorus)
Do you remember when you could feel all of this?
It to so long to get from one to two
a slient orchestra, we tune in darkness
can you hear me ? can you hear me?

I'm far to far now sweetheart
To hardly recover
entangled in wires
my absence discovered
and i always wanted to be someone
that no one could ever trust
our last waltz
orbits tombs while you choke on lust

4/7: What we have been doing
We realized that our updates have become alittle less personal than they used to be. So we just want to give everyone an update on what we have been doing. Well lets see, a few weeks ago we did an interview for MTV at The Middle East. We're not really sure which MTV network it will air on but it will feature an interview from us and some clips from The Association video. Jesse modeled for the new Poison The Well album. Jake from Converge did all the art and Bryan Sheffield took all the photos so it shouLd be amazing. We met the guys from The State and Stella at a rest stop. The artwork is complete for the EP. It will come in a digipack which is the new cardboard like cd cases much like a new age vinyl package, very very nice. The cd itself is really badass, it features our logo of the 4 knives which a ton of people have been asking us to bring back(remember the old sharks shirts). We have new stickers which also are of the knives and our new way of writing our name. send us an email if you want some. ummmm anything else, well we did have a big Read Yellow house party in which our good friends Blame The Victim and Cut The Shit rocked the house. ok, over and out!!

3/31: Shows in may
Shows added for may included, WBCN Rumble, WFNX interview, and MIT. Our Ep will be released on May 6th. thanks to everyone for helping us out. we love you

3/10: Info on EP
4 song EP is mastered and will be released May 6 on Fenway Recordings/Lonesome Recordings. It will be released all over the damn place!!

2/27: Nice warm february/ New gigs/ New label
So we haven't updated in awhile because we've been so darn busy!!!!! Much is happening. We are getting our 4 song EP mastered and releasing it on Lonesome Recordings. Writing new songs in April for a full Length that we will be recording in the summer on a label that you know about. Other than that we have been great. We've played some amazing shows recently. The highlight may had been the Burn Down The Disco in our hometown of Amherst. It was sold out by 10:00!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who came out and saw us. Sorry to those who got stuck waiting at the door. SOOOOOO we've got some new shows coming up in New York and Boston. Please, please try to make it out and catch our Rock Assault. Tell us what you think of our video. Also, please check out all the bands on our links page. We love them all and love you all.

1/21: we love the swedish
Hey friends, we just got back from playing a sold-out show with two amazing bands, Philadelphia's Burning Brides and Sweden's Division of Laura Lee. The club was packed full of kids that were there to witness a full-on rock n' roll assault! We had a great time hanging out with the BB's and DOLL afterwards, and we plan to play some shows with them in the future. We also played a show at NYC's Continental Club on Martin Luther King Day. Although a flat tire, bitter East Coast cold, and four of six bands cancelling from the show tried to break our spirits, we still had a lot of fun and appreciate all who came out to see us. Read Yellow has also been looking into a certain prestigious local recording studio and will begin work on our first full-length very soon! Keep on a lookout for Read Yellow rock! In the meantime, come to our shows and take care of one another. Over and Out.

1/6: happy new year
New shows have been added to the gigs page, and now you can sign up for our mailing list on the contact page!! Yay!
